Education System in Vatican City

Primary Education

Rules for celibacy dictate that Vatican City remains an education provider, as opposed to one requiring education Vatican City Educationfor its children. In fact there is little room for schools at all within its 44 hectares comprising churches and administration buildings. Moreover, with a population of just 800 people, this would be hardly justified with so many fine facilities in Rome beyond its walls.

Vatican City does however host 64 education institutions elsewhere in greater Rome, and in many other places almost anywhere else in the world. Typically, the curricula there reflect national policies, although faith instruction always has a role too. These days, a secular society is making the role of religion less popular in education, although what would happen were catholic schools to close in poorer countries is difficult to contemplate.
